The rise of low impact training might have a significant impact on our health as we age
Bone mineral density decreases as we age, but even more rapidly for women
In fact, one in 3 women over the age of 50 will break a bone due to it's brittleness
This is of course a scary statistic but we can help to offset this decline as we age
But low impact training is not the way
Did you know:
Women are already much more prone to osteopenia and osteoporosis when compared with men (18% + 2% for men and 56% + 16% for women) in people 50 years and older
Women over 50 have a 4x higher rate of osteoporosis and 2x higher rate of osteopenia than men
Jump training and high impact (start point relative to experience level) can directly impact our bone mineral density and offset these changes

Our bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments respond positivelyto stress placed upon them as long as it does not exceed the current capacity
Instead if we just go beyond what is comfortable while staying within our current capacity, our bodies will respond by growing stronger and laying down more bone formation
The best way to do this is through strength training and some high impact work like plyometrics
Now high impact is going to look different for everyone at every level so it's recommended you start where you are at!
